Network Rail Scotland Route – Edinburgh Waverley Station – Emergency Response for Inadequate Lighting at Platforms 4,5,6&7

The Challenge

On Wednesday 18th October 2023, Network Rail contacted CPMS, Edinburgh Waverley Station had inadequate high bay lighting.

The Solution

The M&E team mobilised immediately, attending site within two hours, undertaking a lighting levels survey and installing temporary lighting. Ensuring the operation of the station was not disrupted and the safety of passengers and staff was not compromised.

Possession and Isolation was arranged at very short notice for Saturday 21st.

Plant suitable for the site access constraints was arranged, materials were obtained and staff were allocated.

CPMS attended on Saturday 21st and undertook where possible repairs to the existing lighting, where this was not possible, new lighting was installed.

The temporary lighting was left in-situ as a back-up for a week, the site was monitored to ensure no underlying problems or further failures. The temporary lighting was then removed.
