We have a fantastic opportunity for an HSQE Advisor, to be based at our Head Office in Elderslie. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to further their career in Health & Safety. In this role you will report directly to the EHS Manager and provide Health & Safety advice and support to the business, ensuring compliance to all relevant legal, industry and company standards. Frequent travel to various work sites will be required.

Essential

  • Relevant HSQE qualifications, for example NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.
  • Recent experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Experience working with the railway or construction industry would be desirable, but not deemed as essential.
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems, implementation and improvement.
  • Understanding of internal auditing, identifying non-conformances and giving feedback.
  • Strong team working skills, with the ability to tailor approach to different audiences.
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. IEMA) would be desirable but not essential.
  • Full, UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a multi-site maintenance environment
  • Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) card, desirable but not essential as training will be given
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn to use specialist software
  • A broad range of building and communication skills, along with sound commercial awareness

Role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;

  • Conducting site visits, inspections and safety tours across CPMS work sites, ensuring all HSQE practices are adhered to. Responsible for all associated paperwork and ensuring KPI’s are met.
  • Conducting accident/incident investigations where a breach of Health & Safety has occurred. Completing all associated investigation paperwork and communicating outcomes and learning points to the wider business.
  • Supporting the EHS Manager with the preparation and delivery of Health & Safety training and Toolbox Talks.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing Health & Safety policies and procedures, making recommendations and assisting in the implementation of new policies and procedures where required.
  • Assisting the EHS Manager in the maintenance of safe systems of work; providing advice, coaching and practical hands on support throughout the business. This includes dynamic risk assessments, safe system of works packs, COSHH assessments, fire risk assessments, etc.
  • Completing occupational Health & Safety surveys where required, for example noise, light and chemical substances.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining environmental and sustainable development initiatives and practices, alongside Senior Management.
