An opportunity has arisen for a Estimator to join our team, based in our head office in Elderslie with travel throughout Scotland. The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial team and assist our construction managers and reactive maintenance teams.
Working throughout the UK rail network, CPMS provides a diverse range of services including – station platform construction, maintenance and refurbishment works. We also undertake bridgeworks, station roofs and canopies. Building maintenance and refurbishment is carried out in stations, depots, signal boxes, lineside buildings, arches, carparks and roadways. We currently undertake PPM and reactive maintenance tasks as well as Civils, HVAC works and M&E services. Our clients include Network Rail, Train Operating Companies, Freight Operating Companies, Heritage Railways and Light Rail.
Essential
- HNC or equivalent in Estimating/Quantity Surveying and/or relevant experience
- Ability to read architectural/engineering drawings and have an excellent knowledge of construction processes, along with excellent numerical and IT skills
- Practiced knowledge of standard construction contracts and regulations, as well as health and safety matters
- A broad range of building and communication skills, along with sound commercial awareness
- Enthusiasm and the ability to think in an innovative way
- Methodical and logical approach to problem solving
- A good working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software
- Hold a full, clean UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience working in a multi-site maintenance environment
- Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) card, desirable but not essential as training will be given
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn to use specialist software

Role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;
- Preparation of payment schedules to clients for current reactive and PPM contracts
- Attend site visits to undertake on-site measurement and scoping, to enable cost estimates/quotations to be produced
- Preparation of quotations/estimates
- Assisting with the preparation of reports for the management team
- Financial monitoring of projects, including tracking changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections accordingly
- Ad hoc duties as required
